SEC. 07 — THE NETWORK

Not Big Ag. Not Wall Street. Nebraska.

The network is invite-only and built on relationships — neighbors who know neighbors, across more than seventy counties. That trust is the asset no outside buyer can replicate, and it is why families bring us their land and their legacy in the first place.

SEC. 07B · HOW A MEMBER-OWNED NETWORK WORKS

Cooperation isn't new to Nebraska. Concentration is.

Nebraska knows the cooperative model in its bones. Grain elevators, rural public power districts, natural-resources districts, and farm-credit institutions were all built on the same principle: the people who use a business should own and govern it. The Nebraska Farmers Network applies that logic to the whole chain, from land to processing to market.

The alternative is already unfolding. The number of U.S. farms keeps falling, the average producer is 58.1 years old, and outside capital (pension funds, private equity, and non-operator investors) is a growing presence in American farmland. Each acre that leaves local ownership is harder to bring back.

A member-owned structure keeps decisions and returns closer to the people doing the work. Solutions are built for producers rather than extracted from them, and governance sits with a board and advisory council of working Nebraska farmers and ranchers instead of a distant fund manager.

The network is invite-only and relationship-first, spanning neighbors across more than seventy of Nebraska's ninety-three counties. That trust, earned one conversation at a time, is the asset no outside buyer can replicate, and it is why families bring the network their land and their legacy in the first place.
